At age four, Marci's mom brought her to participate in a filming of a children's television program in Baltimore, called Romper Room. From that very moment when Marci was allowed on stage, she felt at home. Later, her family moved to Houston, where she studied musical theatre with director Carol McCann and was part of the Variety Players.

At the University of Texas in Austin, Marci graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Radio, Television and Film. She studied acting and guitar, as well. She was fortunate enough to have landed an internship with distinguished director Robert Benton (Kramer vs Kramer, Places in the Heart). She worked with producer Arlene Donovan and prestigious editor Sam O’Steen (The Graduate).

In Los Angeles, Marci worked at Orion Pictures for Executive Mike Medavoy (One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Platoon) and at the prestigious literary agency Shapiro-Lichman. Her role in Creative Development led her to assist comedians Rodney Dangerfield, Roseanne Barr, Danny Devito, Rhea Perlman, Andrew Dice Clay and Anson Williams. She later moved back to Austin, where she was a stand-in actor for Disney’s The Big Green and was represented by Acclaim Talent. Marci performed in lead roles in several independent feature and short films (Ruta Awakening, Happy Hour) and voiced such characters as Interplanet Janet for ABC/ Schoolhouse Rock, and Chance for Chanel.

Additionally, Marci's short films (Queer Eye for the Austin Guy, God Exposed) have premiered at the SXSW Reel Women in Film Festival. Her feature film Sweetwater has aired on PBS with Austin musicians contributing and Marci writing much of the soundtrack.

She created Empower, a production company and life skills program teaching conflict resolution through music, acting, and yoga (Marci holds certifications in Hatha Yoga, Meditation, Mediation and Chi Quong). She performed in and produced (DVD)Yoga for Seniors , and a meditation audio, Clear Calm. Marci ran Reel Kids on Film at Alleywood Studios in Austin, where she trained actors, Glen Powell (Twister, Top Gun) and Disney’s lead in the Black Stallion, Biana Tamimi.

She and JP Allen co-authored Giraffe Juice, a book on compassionate communication addressing bullying. The book has been published in South Korea as well and is under contract with the Center for Non-Violent Communication's publishing company, Puddle Dancer. The feature documentary Izzy Cox: Fighting the Devil premiered at the Austin Film Society Cinema in Austin and is currently streaming on the FAWESOME app through Film Hub. Marci served as the executive producer and creative editing consultant on the film, in collaboration with Omar Mousa Productions.

Presently, Marci mentors kids in the foster system for Kids in a New Groove, teaching music and voice. She premiered her short documentary film, Rising Star, on March 8th, 2026. The film showcases a young, timid, and talented singer, Star Zelena, finding herself through her voice.
